FWT ROK CHAMPIONS 2017

The season came to an end in Ocala, FL, as Ryan Norberg and Igor Muhkin took home the ROK Senior and ROK Shifter Masters Championships, making PSL the only team to take home two titles at the Florida Winter Tour ROK Championship.

ROK Senior pilots, Norberg and PSL's newest team member, Jet Noland, took to qualifying, positioning themselves in P4 and P10 respectively for the heats. The prefinal would see Norberg starting on the front row (P2) and Noland a very strong P5. An incident during lap 10 would push Jet back to P15, however Norberg would go on to take the win. In the final, both drivers would fight the competition putting themselves to finish in P4 (Norberg, Class Champion) and P10 for Noland.

ROK Shifter class had Mazzaferro showing one of his best qualifying efforts against a stacked field of ex-Formula 1, current Indy Car and factory drivers to start the heats on the front row in P2. A few misfortunate situations in the heats and a false start would put Gianfranco to P8 for the prefinal. In the final, Gianfranco would retire in lap 16 of 24 due to a mechanical failure. Simoni (Prime Power) would also have a weekend of gaining more experience in the 6 speed shifter, qualifying P10 and fighting hard throughout the heats. In the final, Simoni would go on to finish P14 in rain conditions.

ROK Masters Champion, Igor Mukhin would have a stellar weekend with team mate Scott Davidson as the duo battled the 36 second track each session. Muhkin, travelling from Russia to compete in the FWT Championship, will travel to the ROK Cup Final in Italy this October as part of his prize from the Championship.

"I'm proud of this team, and everything we accomplish as a group. The race for us, begins weeks before, as we test and prep our engines and chassis, and our drivers work on their physical training to stay fit for the long session in the Florida heat. I'd like to thank our engine suppliers, Alison Race Engines, & Legree Motorsports for the top equipment throughout the season, and all our partners and loyal customers for their support and encouragement." - Coy Arbour, Birel ART North America Team Manager
