PSL KARTING SET FOR HOMESTEAD FLORIDA WINTER TOUR ACTION

After a successful opening to the 2012 season, Team PSL Karting drivers are set to return to Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT) action this week. On the heels of multiple victories and podiums at the opening rounds at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR), PSL Karting will now turn their attention to the challenging Homestead Karting facility in sunny south Florida. Six Team PSL drivers will take to the track this weekend for the Formula Kart classes, followed by 25 drivers contesting the Rotax Max Challenge rounds next weekend.

Four pilots are set to take on the Open Shifter category in Homestead, with race two winner Nicholas Latifi leading the PSL contingent. Latifi's win in only his second shifter race had the paddock abuzz in Palm Beach, while another PSL team member earned a podium finish as Alex Manglass took second place honors on Saturday. Seasoned shifter kart pilots Josh Adams and Entienne LaSalle round out the PSL squad, with all four looking to put PSL back on the podium in FWT action.

Austin Versteeg continues his rookie season in the junior ranks, and heads back to Florida a recent podium finisher at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas. Running both weekends of the FWT, this busy pilot will take on the TaG Junior field in search of his first junior win. Rounding out the PSL driver line-up for the Formula Kart weekend is Brazil's Pedro Tavarez de Moraes Cardoso. The young gun will see action in the hotly contested TaG Cadet class, and will certainly be a threat for victories in Homestead.

After a victorious start to the 2012 FWT Rotax campaign, PSL branded drivers will look to carry that success to Homestead. PSL Atlantic's Fritz Leesmann drove to an exciting victory on Sunday at PBIR in his debut weekend in the Rotax Senior class and will look to repeat that effort in Homestead. 2011 Rotax Max Challenge DD2 World Champion Pier-Luc Ouellette is never one to rule out, and despite missing the podium during the opening rounds, PLO is right in the thick of the championship battle.   A recent winner in the TaG Senior class, Victor Cabrera will be back behind the wheel of his Rotax-powered CRG in Homestead with Martin Santana, and PSL Atlantic's Nathan Kelley and Nick Rivellini completing the PSL Rotax Senior line-up. Joseph Antabi will be the lone PSL representative in the Rotax Masters category.

The 2011 FWT DD2 class champion will be back in action in Homestead, as Michael Vincec continues his campaign for a repeat title. Nicholas Latifi will return for a second weekend of racing, and with both pilots making podium appearances in Palm Beach, the duo is sure to be near the top of the charts again. Having missed the opening round, Coupe du Quebec frontrunner Alessandro Bizzotto will also carry PSL colors in the DD2 category, with Luiz Carlos Martinez rounding out the Team PSL drivers in the class.

DD2 Masters will again see two familiar names on the roster, as the 2011 class champion and Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) participant Rene Martinelli will look to improve upon his opening round effort. Two fourth place finishes have him tailing karting legend Alan Rudolph in the class. In his DD2 Masters class debut, Rudolph earned a second place finish and a win under the PSL Atlantic banner, and both drivers are certain to be contenders as they vie for this year's RMCGF ticket.

Three junior drivers are set to take on the ultra-competitive Rotax Junior field in Homestead, with Austin Versteeg back for a consecutive weekend in his CRG kart. Although some tough racing luck in Palm Beach kept Versteeg out of contention, he showed the speed to run at the front and with more experience under his belt is likely to be a factor as the series wears on. Ian Cummings and Diego Joubert round out the Junior PSL drivers, and both will look to get back on track after a challenging season opener.

Mini Max will see the largest contingent of PSL drivers, led by Palm Beach podium finishers Pedro Tavarez de Moraes Cardoso and Gianfranco Mazzaferro. Cardoso made two podium appearances in the opening round, with Mazzaferro taking second place honors in race two. Hot on their heels is Darren Keane, as all three are due for a big win at any time. Luis Jose Forteza III and Michael McCarthy both claimed solid results in Palm Beach and will be back in action in Homestead. Thierry Cote and Isaac Antabi round out the PSL Mini Max line-up.

In the youngest class, Juan Crespi and David Antabi will be the PSL duo in the Micro Max category. Crespi will look to turn strong prefinal runs into podium finishes, as two second place finishes did not yield the final results the young Brazilian had hoped for.

Team PSL Karting will be trackside in 2012 at the Florida Winter Tour, Pan American Rotax Max Challenge, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Quebec Cup, Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres, United States Grand Nationals, ASN Canada FIA Canadian National Karting Championships, Pan American Championship and SKUSA SuperNationals.
