Coupe de Montreal - ICAR, Quebec
mercredi, octobre 13 2010
Team PSL Karting recently wrapped up its Quebec-based schedule when a group 20-members strong travelled to ICAR for the final round of both the Coupe de Montreal and the Quebec Championship. As has become the norm across the continent, PSL drivers assaulted the podium during both race and championship presentations - a trend that began at the Florida Winter Tour and has carried on throughout the 2010 season.
Beginning the day with four pole positions at ICAR in its latest action, PSL then carried through in the prefinals after setting fast lap of the race in six of its seven classes and having three drivers remain on pole. Four others were critically placed P3 after the heat races, and the team was primed for another strong charge at the podium. It duly came after a brilliant display, especially so in Rotax Junior.
Jesse Lazare, Nicolas Latifi and Marc-Antoine Cardin each qualified inside the top four and after 2010 Rotax Team Canada member Latifi set the fastest lap in the prefinal, the trio was getting set to own the podium in the final run of the season. Lazare had the lead by lap five in the main and was in control the rest of the way, winning by nearly one second and heading a PSL 1-2-3 across the line. Officials then comically intervened, repeatedly, yet PSL still emerged with a sweep of the podium after the three drivers swapped spots. Latifi took the top step on the adjusted podium, Cardin advanced to second and Lazare was demoted to third when the point tabulators finally found the order they were looking for.
Three other wins from PSL came in dominating fashion as James Dean Laderoute, Hugo Ouellette and Dany St-Hilaire each swept their respective classes! Laderoute did the deed in Rotax Micro-Max, Ouellette in Rotax Senior and St-Hilaire in TaG Masters where he was unstoppable all season long. Other podium results came from Alexandre Fortin in Mini-Max, Marc-Andre Bourgeois in DD2, and Michel Legrand in TaG Masters, giving PSL nine on the day overall.
Team PSL Karting was also rewarded with a number of championships as the Quebec season came to a close, both from the Coupe de Montreal and the Quebec Championship. Laderoute, Fortin, Lazare, Legrand and St-Hilaire were each crowned Champion at ICAR. The team has little time to rest on its laurels, as it will be headed to the Rotax International Open in Zuera, Spain, in two weeks time and both the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals and SKUSA SuperNationals in November.
