Eastern Canadian Karting Championship- Mont-Tremblant, Quebec

PSL Karting completed the first Eastern Canadian Karting Championship schedule a week ago and watched as three PSL/CRG drivers claimed overall class championships at Le Circuit Karting Mont-Tremblant. Kyle Herder had already secured the Rotax DD2 Championship, Sean McPhee locked down the Honda Junior class early in the day and Jesse Lazare took Rotax Junior after scoring his third straight series’ win! Following a day with 13 podiums in the Coupe de Montreal race, PSL drivers recorded 11 more on Sunday.

 

 

The Junior win was especially satisfying as the championship came right down to the final race, and with the class win Lazare will now move on to represent the ECKC and PSL/CRG at the 1st Annual Rotax International Open in Zuera, Spain, this October. After a difficult opening to the championship, Lazare scored a commanding win on Sunday at Mosport in race four and followed with a fairy-tale victory at race five in Trois-Rivières. With his third straight at Mont-Tremblant, Lazare came from behind to take the first Rotax Junior Championship. Making it even sweeter was the fact it was a PSL one-two as Marc-Antoine Cardin was second and the pair were clear of the rest of the junior field.

 

 

McPhee drove to his championship in opposite fashion, after the PSL Ontario driver had a fantastic opening weekend to the ECKC. A pair of wins at Goodwood Kartways put him on top and he stayed there all season long. Three more podiums came from the Mosport doubleheader and Le Monaco, and with second place at Mont-Tremblant McPhee had gone the entire season standing on the podium. It was a definite theme at Mont-Tremblant prior to Nationals, as PSL had a driver in every podium presentation Saturday and Sunday, meaning PSL has been involved with every podium presentation in Le Circuit’s history! It is a trend PSL will certainly be striving to continue as it returns this week for the 2010 Canadian National Karting Championships.
