PSL had an extremely successful weekend in Woodbine last weekend. Jake Rosenzweig managed an impressive win in the Prefinal and final in ICA on Saturday along with a pole and Prefinal win on Sunday. Rosenzweig ended up with an excellent fourth place due to some mechanical problems. The most impressive weekend came for Jan Velez-Walter, ending up with pole position on both race days, both Prefinal wins along with one victory and one runner-up finish.
The whole PSL team had more than enough to celebrate, including Tom Cadieux, who was very fast and qualified third on Saturday and finished sixth on Sunday. After finishing their celebrations, the PSL team, consisting of Jan's mechanics Serge and Daniel (Dominic Labreque will arrive on Wednesday) took off to Verona, Italy where they arrived at the CRG factory, only to get into the factory truck en-route to Sarno to meet there with Jan Velez, who arrived from Puerto Rico, CRG owner Tinini, one of the factory mechanics and World Champ Danilo Rossi for practice at the Sarno track. Testing will continue at CRG/Maxter's track in Lonato for this weekend, when everybody heads back to the factory, only to take off again on Tuesday to set up shop for the World Cup in Sarno, which officially starts on Wednesday.
Jan Velez-Walter is one of the official CRG/Maxter factory drivers in Super ICC. The factory have set their hopes high and expect a good finish for Velez, which would prove again the high quality of drivers competing in the Stars series, and North American drivers in general. Super ICC is the toughest category in karting and only the best of the best are racing at the World Cup.
Velez said, "I need lots of luck, all mechanical elements running 100 % and my fast adaptation to a track with lots of rubber, which I haven't experienced for some time."
