“We are looking to bring Ontario into the Rotax era with the help of PSL Karting,” comments Mosport International Karting’s Ken Flute. “We recognized the race operations expertise of PSL Karting and we are looking to bring that to our facility here at Mosport.”
Mosport Karting sees this new strategic partnership as a real benefit to the entire facility. The PSL Ontario race team will run all the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship races along with the Nationals being held at SRA Karting just outside of Montreal. Also, PSL Ontario divers looking to race outside the country now have a place they can race and feel like home. The first unofficial event for this new pairing was this past summer at the Canadian National Championships. The first official event will be next week at the opening round of the Florida Winter Tour Rotax weekend where PSL Ontario drivers will run under the PSL Karting tent and get value technical support.
“Ken and I have talked for quite some time about the best way we could work together and this new strategic alliance is a great start,” states Dominic Lebreque, owner of PSL Karting. “With Mosport it only made sense for us to share our knowledge and resources to help grow the sport.”
Part of the resource sharing will include Rotax engine development and performance tuning of Rotax and Honda Engines. Both groups have deep experience in these areas that will benefit team drivers and customers in both provinces. Look to see the PSL Ontario colours fly at the final round of the 2010 Florida Winter Tour being held at Ocala Gran Prix as the Honda class takes to the track for the first time in FWT history.
“There is value in knowledge and PSL have that,” continues Flute. “There is also value in having a world class facility that attracts some the sports’ best drivers, which is something we have here. It’s a natural for us to develop this strategic partnership and see where it takes us.”
Mosport is home to the Mosport International Karting Club now entering it’s third year of full operation. As well the facility offers a complete Arrive and Drive program. In 2010 the Mosport Academy track will bookend the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship. The facility will play host to round one on May 15 to 16 with four-cycle karts and the close off the season hosting round 8 on September 18 to 19 featuring two-cycle karts.
