Outstanding performances at the Canadian Karting Championships for PSL Karting team

Montreal, Canada – August 9, 2007 – The best drivers and karting teams competed last weekend in the Canadian Karting Championships held in Hamilton, Ontario. The PSL Karting team won the trophy for the best team, and also collected five podiums, including three Canadian titles and two runner-up titles. The PSL Karting team and three of their drivers will compete next November in the prestigious Rotax Max World Championships held in Dubai.

The PSL Karting team clinched the title in the Rotax Max Junior category. Quebec City’s Mikaël Grenier and Valleyfield’s Mathieu Bourgouin performed well under intense pressure and respectively finished 1st and 2nd . The two drivers will now be invited to compete in the Rotax Max World Finals.

Team PSL Karting veteran driver Luc Sauriol from Montreal, Quebec then won the Canadian title in the Master category. Sauriol will also represent Canada in November in Dubai. "To be forced to run in the repechage heat before clinching the Canadian title is quite an accomplishment! This victory also provides me with a participation in the World Finals to be held in Dubai. It feels incredible!" Sauriol explained.

Jake Rosenzweig (PSL Karting / CRG) was crowned Canadian Formula ICC National Champion . Rosenzweig impressively added the Canadian title to his earlier ICA FWT Championship victory. Rosenzweig, who was nursing a rib injury from the first competetive heat on Friday, had earlier finished the pre-final in third position behind Vincec and Fox. In the final Rosenzweig got a great start from the second row and took the lead going into turn one, never looking back. In the wet conditions he layed down the fastest lap of the race 1.03.394 and consistently took a second per lap out of the competition. Rosenzweig stayed clear of the back markers as he lapped part of the field and took the checkered flag by a convincing ten second margin.

In the 4-stroke Senior category, Ontario’s Steven Mathew finished in 2nd position behind the wheel of the new chassis (PSL RS4) specifically developed by PSL karting and manufactured by CRG. PSL Karting showed the impressive performance of this new chassis designed exclusively for North-American events.

"We experienced another productive championship, mentioned Dominic Labrecque, owner of PSL Karting. I am very satisfied with the performances of our drivers and the work achieved by the race team. It is with pride that we all left Hamilton with the trophy awarded to best team of the championship."

On a final note, young Quebec racing driver Kevin Lacroix, who has just signed an agreement to race in the Atlantic Champ Car series in 2008 with the Walker Racing team, learned the ropes with PSL Karting when he was racing karts.
