La Conca– Italy – June 13 2004. The CRG/Maxter works drivers shone June 13 in the penultimate round of the Italian Open Masters on the La Conca track in Murro Lecce, Italy
The official CRG/Maxter drivers in the 125cc shifter category, Alessandro Manetti and Francesco Principe drove strong races while most other competitors looked for the best set-up. The Maxter engine again demonstrated its raw power and its wide power band. After Manetti won the two qualifying heats of the B Group, his team mate Francesco Principe captured victory in one of the qualifying heat of the A Group and finished second to Holland’s Arjan Kievetbosch in the second. In the finale, Manetti started from pole position and scored another victory. In second place was Italian Cozzaglio Manel, driving for Birel, followed by Principe. After four rounds in the championship, Manetti is first in the standings with 86 points. Laudato stands in second place with 58.
In Formula A, CRG and Maxter helped British driver Sims Alexander to claim third place. His team mate, German Nico Hulkenberg, finished 7th. Team CRG second driver Filipe Albuquerque suffered a huge disappointment when he was forced to retire on lap 5 of the finale. Earlier, Albuquerque finished second in one of the qualifying heats.
In ICA, Maxter put three engines in the top three while CRG took two places on the podium. Driving brilliantly, Dutch driver Henkie Waldschmidt was quick all weekend long. He finished first in the finale, beating Martin Dye and Mateo Chinosi. Canadian Kevin Lacroix performed well, taking 14th place in just his third race in Europe after started 31st.
In ICA Junior, Maxter again finished on the podium with German driver Marco Wittman. Currently third in the standings, Wittman intends to move ahead of Eng Philipp who’s just ten points ahead in the standings.
